Christmas time is a time of great joy for most people. However, for a select few, it might be a time of great sadness. This is because they did not secure their home and they got broken into.

Unfortunately, Christmas and New year time is when most burglars will be on the look out for the perfect house to break into. This is very sad but it is something that is true and people have to make sure that they are prepared for the occurrence. You don’t want to be the only family without presents under the tree at Christmas time. How would you explain that? Read on for some tips on how to make sure that those burglars walk past your house.

Tips

1. Leave a light on when you leave the house. This does sound silly but it works. If they see a light on, they might not even attempt to get into your house.

2. Leave the house secure – When you leave the house, ask yourself, are the window shut? Did you put the alarm on? Is the front door double locked? If the answer to all of these questions is yes, then your house is secure.

3. Keep your tree out of sight. This does sound sad, but it means keep the try out of sight of the windows. Therefore if someone looks in, they won’t be able to see anything under the tree. They might assume you don’t have any presents and move onto the next house.

4. Have a wireless security camera system – A lot of people think that an alarm is enough, but you need a camera system as well. This is because you will have evidence if they get into your home. You will be able to take the footage to the police and they will be able to catch the culprits. Furthermore, with the best wireless security camera system, it would inform you that someone is in the house immediately after the sensors are tripped.

5. Have some cameras outside your house. Hang some cameras above your front door or underneath the gutter on the side of your house. You might just check them as someone is standing outside. Also, a burglar might see the camera and think it isn’t worth the hassle. The cameras will then act as a deterrent and they won’t break into your home.
